The River Hills police department is participating in the “Booze and Belts Mobilization” from Dec. 9th to Dec. 17th. - an effort by many law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin to prevent the needless deaths caused by those who drive drunk and those who don’t wear safety belts.
Last year in Wisconsin, according to a news release, 220 people were killed and more than 3,500 injured in alcohol-related crashes. In addition, 40,000 drivers were convicted for drunken driving and 120,000 for failure to fasten safety belts.
The goal of this program is to not only to arrest those who break the law, but most importantly to alert all drivers of not only the law but the consequence of breaking the laws.
The police urge all drivers to buckle up and make sure all passengers are buckled up, and if they drive, don’t drink.
