Ordinance to
Adopt the Village of River Hills
Comprehensive
Plan
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT the Village
of River Hills Village Board will
conduct a public hearing on a proposed ordinance to adopt the Village of River Hills
Comprehensive Plan. The meeting and public
hearing will be held on November 18,
2009, at 7:00 pm at the Village Hall, 7650 N. Pheasant Lane. The plan was
recommended to the Village Board by resolution of the Plan Commission at its October
13, 2009 meeting.
The public hearing will be held to gather public comment
on the draft Village of River
Hills Comprehensive Plan. The plan is
a blueprint for the short- and long-range development, redevelopment, and
preservation of the Village of River Hills as required by Wisconsin’s “Smart Growth” comprehensive
planning legislation in Wis. Stats, 66.1001. This plan is intended to update and replace the village’s previous comprehensive
plan. This Village of River Hills
Comprehensive Plan is designed to be used by village officials as a policy
guide to protect scenic resources and promote residential development patterns
that are compatible with the character of River Hills over the next twenty
years. The Plan includes recommendations for maintaining high-quality,
cost-effective infrastructure and public services; working with local,
regional, and state agencies on transportation and natural resources issues;
and balancing individual property rights with community interests and goals. The
plan also includes transportation, natural features, existing land use/land
cover, and future land use maps.
A “recommended draft” of the Village of River Hills Comprehensive Plan and the
plan adoption ordinance is available for review at the Village Hall, the North
Shore Library (6800 N. Port Washington
Road), and on the village’s website (www.riverhillswi.com).
Residents are
encouraged to review the plan and submit written comments to the village before
the public hearing. All written comments received before the public hearing will
be forwarded to the Village Board Members. Oral comments may be made at the
