North Shore Health Department Highlights – November 24, 2009

 

According to the State Health Department, it appears the 2nd wave of the 2009/H1N1 has peaked.  Influenza like illness (ILI) still remains high in the SE portion of the state, while other regions have decreased ILI .There has been a slight decrease in the number of absences at the schools in our area.   

 

Close to 1200 people were immunized at the H1N1 clinic held on Nov. 19 at the Bavarian Inn.  This clinic was coordinated with the Shorewood/Whitefish Bay Health Department.  The Health Department has offered ten clinics for targeted populations and future clinics will be expanded to include the general public. 

 

Two additional H1N1 clinics have been scheduled.  Again teaming with the Shorewood/Whitefish Bay Health Department, a clinic has been scheduled for Thurs., Dec. 3, from 2:30-6:30 PM at the Bavarian Inn in Glendale.  A second clinic is set for Sat., Dec. 5, from 10:00AM- 1:00 PM at the Brown Deer Village Hall.  Both clinics are open to the general public. 

 

The sanitarian for the North Shore Environmental Health Consortium attended mandatory Dept. of Agriculture training on Nov. 10.  Updates to the Wisconsin Food Code were reviewed as well as current issues affecting other jurisdictions.
